Introduction

Welcome to our NCL Net pages!

"NCL“ stands for Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinoses.  It actually stands for a number of various neurodegenerative disorders in children and adolescents.  The NCLs are the most common neurodegenerative disorders in children: About one child in 20,000 is born with NCL .

This newly founded NCL Net intends on supporting  NCL research by creating a network of patients, their parents, physicians and scientists.

It also aims at improving diagnosis and therapy of NCL by establishing specialized NCL Clinics. We hope that our NCL Clinic at the Children's Hospital of the University Medical Center Hamburg, Germany, could be seen as a good example for achieving this goal.

We would like to show you what the NCL Net is and how it works.. It includes up-to-date information regarding the various NCL diseases. All information is written for parents, patients and medical doctors.  It includes a continuously updated list of publications from the field of NCL research. We depend on your help and participation in continuously improving our NCL Net. Please do not hesitate to communicate your ideas.

The 12th International Congress on Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinoses (NCL) will be held in Hamburg, Germany, 3-6 June 2009.
